The singer, who was on the fifth season of the reality-based singing competition, releases an uplifting track called 'Broken Ones'.

Jacquie Lee was this close to finishing her performance of Amy Winehouse's Back To Black before coaches Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton finally turned their chairs around during the blind auditions of The Voice. And boy, we're glad they did.

The 17-year-old American singer, guided by her mentor Aguilera, charmed viewers throughout the fifth season of the reality singing competition especially with her dazzling rendition of Sarah McLachlan's Angel and a show-stopping rendering of Jennifer Holliday's And I Am Telling You.

Though the New Jersey-native ended up coming in second after Tessanne Chin, Lee's music career is just beginning.

Lee recently released her debut effort, Broken Ones, an EP containing tracks Tears Fall, Drown Me In Your Love, Right Love, Girls Just Want To Have Fun besides the title track.

Broken Ones is an emotional ballad with an inspirational message for those who are just about ready to give up on their dreams and coupled with Lee's soaring vocals, it's just the pick-me-up one needs.

Its music video depicts a group of dejected young girls - comprising a painter, dancer, writer and pianist – rising up out of their disappointments and finding their strength once more.

Lee shared on her EP to MTV News: "It's very honest, in my opinion. It's totally real 'cause that's my biggest concern. I wanted people to listen to real music and real lyrics so that they could relate to it. Everything came from the heart."
