If you do, please don't lick the screen.
Have you ever watched a scene in a movie where someone is eating something that looks so good you wished you were eating it too? It doesn't matter if you've just had a big meal, or if you're eating popcorn or chips right at that moment – sometimes, food on the screen is simply irressistible.
Such is the case for Helen Mirren's latest film The Hundred-Foot Journey, which opens soon in Malaysia. Mirren plays a hoity-toity proprietess of a Michelin-starred French restaurant in a village in the south of France, whose life turns upside-down one day when an Indian family decides to open up a restaurant right in front of hers.
The movie's trailer shows platefuls of delicious meals from both restaurants, which makes you crave for a savoury French crepe served with some dal or rogan josh.
There's also Ang Lee's Eat Drink Man Woman, a film that revolves around a Chinese chef and his three grown-up daughters. Every Sunday, Chu serves up a big traditional meal for his children and when you see what's on the table, you'll want to cry because the food looks so real (thanks to the brilliant camera work) you can smell the aroma and even taste it. Sort of.
