The studio released the poster for its upcoming dark fantasy, Into The Woods, starring Meryl Streep.
After unveiling a trailer and a few stills, Disney has released the first poster for the fairytale musical directed by Rob Marshall.
Following the success of Maleficent, the studio is preparing to release another live action movie inspired by classic fairytale lore. Based on the Stephen Sondheim's Tony Award-winning musical, Into The Woods revisits several of the Brothers Grimm stories that have inspired previous Disney classics.
With an all-star cast, the movie intertwines the destinies of Cinderella and her prince (Anna Kendrick and Chris Pine), Little Red Riding Hood (Lilla Crawford), Rapunzel (MacKenzie Mauzy) and Jack and his beanstalk (Daniel Huttleston). These fairytale characters all cross paths with the protagonists, played by James Corden and Emily Blunt, two bakers who are prevented from starting a family by a curse from an evil witch (Meryl Streep). The wolf also makes an appearance, played by Johnny Depp.
Directed by Rob Marshall, who helmed the 2002 film adaptation of Chicago, the feature is based on a screenplay by James Lapine, who collaborated with Sondheim on the libretto for the original play.
Into The Woods opens in US theatres on Dec 25. — AFP Relaxnews
