Rumour has it that the Harry Potter star might just play a villain in the upcoming film.
Citing insider info from a Star Wars Rebels production company, TheForceNet links Harry Potter actor Jason Isaacs with the role of the Imperial Inquisitor.
As a cartoon series that arrives later on this year, Star Wars Rebels provides an opportunity to lead into the full Star Wars Episode VII due December 2015.
David Oyelowo was the British actor previously linked with both Star Wars Rebels and Star Wars Episode VII. TheForceNet analysed an early trailer for the former and concluded that Oyelowo would voice Imperial Agent Kallus in the series, speculating that the same role would be his in Episode VII.
Now TheForceNet pops up again with correspondence sourced from within one of the Star Wars Rebels production companies, which has Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter film franchise) down as chief antagonist, the Imperial Inquisitor.
Following up on the clue was SlashFilm, told by a Disney XD spokesperson that "we don't have any aditional casting announcements on Star Wars Rebels to make at this time."
"Not a denial, nor a confirmation. Which these days is a pretty good clue," concluded SlashFilm.
Meanwhile, Latino Review has weighed in on the Oyelowo rumour, denying that he will play an Inquisitor or CG character in Episode VII, despite the association with Rebels.
But links between Rebels, Episode VII and concepts for the original trilogy do exist: "Things that are established in the Star Wars Rebels animated series will world-build for Star Wars Episode VII", validating the level of interest that surrounds this year's animated series. — AFP Relaxnews
